2007-2008 "In-Training" Workshop
THINK YOU CAN'T COMPLETE THE RUN?
Jog-walk the entire race! We will show you how! We have different training groups, including runners, joggers, walkers, and run-walkers!!!
- All 2008 Hawaiian Telcom Great Aloha Run applicants are invited to participate in the 2007-2008 Hawaiian Telcom Great Aloha Run "In-Training" Workshop, with our Great Aloha Run Workshop director, Dr. Christiane W. Christ.
- The GAR "In-Training" Workshop meets every Sunday, starting on December 16, 2007 through February 10, 2008 at 7:20 am at the Kapiolani Park Bandstand. Distance increases & times vary with each meet.
- Come early to sign the waiver and we will help you get ready for the race, regardless of your pace and current conditioning.
- Cost: Free to all 2008 Hawaiian Telcom Great Aloha Run participants (valued at $185.00 per person)
- Training is progressive and spans over a total of 9 weeks.
TRAINING TOPICS AND HEALTH TIPS:
- How to train injury-free
- How to fuel for great workouts
- How and when to train for endurance and speed
- When and how to taper
- How to recover from training
- What (and what not) to wear for the race
- Logistics for the race - how to get there, where to park, etc.
EACH WORKOUT IS COMPRISED OF:
- Training topic
- Warm-up
- Training run & walk (by time and distance; (both increase steadily with
each meet)
- Stretching
- Cool-down (water treading) Q+A/chat session
