Frequently Asked Questions and MORE
The Hawaii Pacific Health Great Aloha Run Challenge Runs are virtual runs, which can be completed on a treadmill, around your neighborhood, or anywhere you like to run or walk, while safely social distancing and following all state and local laws.
In this “Virtual Event,” you want to be sure you choose a safe course on which to participate. We recommend that you complete the entire virtual run in a safe environment and not on the actual in-person Great Aloha Run course. Proceed at your own risk.
Warning: Actual course shown on maps includes areas where conditions can be dangerous and closed to the public, including, but not limited to traffic, hazardous roads and trails, and hot, rainy, and/or windy weather. The map is for tracking your miles and not for actually participating on the usual in-person course.
How does a Virtual Great Aloha Run work?
Sign up for the Event of your choice. Beginning February 8, 2021 you'll have eight days (February 8 – February 15, 2021) to walk, jog or run the Hawaii Pacific Health Great Aloha Run virtual event. Log your mileage through this website as you go, and once you've reached your course distance, the challenge is complete. Since this is a VIRTUAL event, you can complete your mileage anywhere and anytime that is most convenient for you during the challenge period.
When does the challenge take place?
February 8 – February 15, 2021
What is the deadline to register? You can register right through the last day of the event on February 15th, 2021. Just make sure to plan accordingly and give yourself enough time to complete the run and log in your miles before midnight on February 15th.
Do I have to walk, jog or run every day, or can I break it up?
You can break it up however you like - daily, twice a day, and take days off, your choice. All activity must logged and submitted by February 15, 2021.
How do I keep track of my mileage?
This event is measured by the honor system. But ideally you use a GPS watch or phone to track your activity (for distance and time). Then log your activity here or by going to the event's results page.
It is recommended that you submit your miles directly to the RunSignUp website following each activity so you don't forget.
Do treadmill miles count?
Where can I find Team Results?
You can find your Team Results here.
When will I receive my swag?
Race swag will be shipped starting February 16, 2021. Allow 4-6 weeks for receipt. There may be delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you have not received your swag by March 31, 2021, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
What will I receive as part of my registration?
All participants will receive:
Can I change my t-shirt size after I’ve completed registration?
Regrettably, no. Due to production times, you will not be able to change your t-shirt size after your registration is completed.
Will there be age group and/or military awards?
No, not this year. Given that everyone will be running at different locations and under different conditions, no age group awards for the virtual race will be allocated.
What does my Great Aloha Run participation support?
Through the generosity and aloha from the thousands that take part, last year’s Great Aloha Run generated $170,000 that was donated back into local communities, benefitting more than 100 charitable organizations and the military in 2020. In total, the Great Aloha Run has raised more than $14.5 million for Hawaii’s non-profit organizations and community groups during its 37-year history. Expand the image below to see our full list of organizations we're supporting in 2021.
How can I stay connected to other runners participating in the 2021 Great Aloha Virtual Run?
We’ve created a social platform for virtual participants to share about their progress and encourage each other throughout this event! Feel free to join our Great Aloha Virtual Run Facebook Group (facebook.com/groups/GreatAlohaVirtualRun) where you can also ask questions and stay connected with our Great Aloha Run community!
What if I can no longer participate? Can I get a refund or transfer my registration?
This event is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
How does the Referral Program work?
RunSignUp will provide each registrant with a unique referral link that allows the system to track how many people have signed up for any paid Great Aloha Run 2021 event. The two registrants with the most new, paid sign-ups attributed to their unique referral link between January 13, 2021 and January 15, 2021, will win one (1) pair of roundtrip tickets to anywhere Alaska Airlines flies. Regrettably, registrants who have already signed up do not count toward the referral program as the registration was not through a referral link. Must be 21 or older to win. Employees and family members of our sponsors are not eligible.
